After removing the wall between the kitchen and the dining room I was able to move the stove to the peninsula giving me room for a large pantry and bigger refrigerator! As for the floor, it is a 6x24" grey wood grain ceramic tile that was laid parallel to the hardwood floors that run throughout the main floor. I also removed the old floor down to the sub floor to allow for a smooth transition from the wood to the tile.
